Nathalie Emmanuel
Nathalie Emmanuel was a British actor who gained notoriety for her portrayal of Missandei on HBO's fantasy epic "Game of Thrones" (HBO 2011, 2011-19). The actress was born and raised in Southend-on-the-Sea, a seaside resort town located in Essex, Emmanuel was drawn to performing from a very young age. Nathalie started taking singing, acting and dancing lessons around 3 years of age. Her parents were immediately impressed. Emmanuel proved to be a gifted performer and actress. She was a part of the young Nala at her role in the West End in the film "The Lion King" in the mid 1990s. By the time she became a teenager, Emmanuel began auditioning for film and TV roles. Her first major break in 2007 when she became Sasha Valentine on the British soap-opera "Hollyoaks" (Channel 4 between 1995 and ). Emmanuel played the role of Sasha Valentine for four seasons before stepping down from Hollyoaks by the year 2010. Emmanuel's breakthrough moment was three years later, when she was selected to play Missandei as the character's interpreter Daenerys Targaryen (portrayed by Emilia Clarke), on HBO's "Game of Thrones." Emmanuel was to reprise her role in every subsequent series of "Game of Thrones," all the way through the series finale in May of 2019.
